  • Changed the name to BetterOpenWith. This was formerly called File Escort, and was released before the Open With feature was added to OSX. Now that everyone knows about Open With, BetterOpenWith seemed a little more descriptive.
  • Added a "fast-track" feature that remembers what application you last sent a file of each type to, so you don't have to navigate the BetterOpenWith menu to launch your favorite app.
  • Changed some things that actually made it incompatible with own shareware products!

The long description

BetterOpenWith is a better file launcher than Open With. Don't let OSX tell you where you can send your files -- send them where you want with BetterOpenWith.

The application list is completely under your control. You can add and remove applications from the list using BetterOpenWith's System Preferences panel,

or from the pop-up menu.

Every application in the list is available to all types of files, all the time.

BetterOpenWith also features a handy Launch menu so you can move less-frequently-used apps off the dock and into your BetterOpenWith list.

BetterOpenWith works under 10.1. AND 10.2, however, it works MUCH better under 10.2 if you're launching files with Unicode characters in their names.

BetterOpenWith will save you a little bit of time and aggravation each time you use it. If you use your Mac a lot, that could really add up.
